1/2 marathon update

FIVE MILES COMPLETED! HOLLA!! We took a very uphill hike to a little lake on Friday with Dan and Sarah, who spent the weekend with us. It was much more strenuous than we anticipated! We were all sore Saturday, and I had a gigantic open blister on one of my heels. I was able to bandage it adequately though, and finish the run today without a stop! Chad is out now, TRYING to beat my time. ONWARD RUNNERS!!!!

As I mentioned, Dan and Sarah spent the weekend with us. Dan and Chad grew up together, went to college together, and lived within 5 miles of each other UNTIL we moved here. They were great to have here! It just so happened that a little stomach bug hit Ella Saturday morning, so the plans we had for that day got canceled, and we ended up lazing around the house. Such is the life with children. They were patient and accomodating; Great friends. They have always been so great to work with and around our kids and their needs. That makes them special, especially because they don't have children yet! They are the kind of friends that you feel totally comfortable with just eating leftovers, or running to get burgers and watching t.v with all evening. We did that often before we moved!

I bought some huckleberries before they came so we could have huckelberry pancakes. SPENDY little purple berries- $7.75 will get you 1/2 a pound! I plan on buying more, for a huckleberry pie next weekend. Maybe that will become a new Labor Day tradition!

I got my new video camera!!! BUT, it does not have a memory card with it, so I must purchase one of those before you see pictures again. It can accommodate 3 different types of cards, SO that is why it did not come with one supplied.ANYWAY- pictures coming soon...

There are signs of fall around us, and it is making me cling to every nice day we have. The tall grass clumps along the side of the bike path have begun the fall transition. The heads are brittle and fragile, releasing seeds at the slightest touch, the strong, solid green stems are slowly changing from green to yellow, from the top down. Soon the long blades of grass at the base of the bush will be yellow and fragile too. I do love the transition of seasons, but will miss what summer holds!

We have really tried to take advantage of this beautiful place. There are several weeks yet to enjoy- and we will enjoy them. It will get us through the long snowy winter, I hope.

My parents are coming this weekend for a big festival in town. I hope the four days leading up to their arrival go quickly! We will go out and celebrate Chad's birthday while they are here to watch the kids. Chad wants sushi. Really?? I talked to someone today who told me about a Sushi restaurant that has great steaks too. THAT is where we will be going.

five miles is so so impressive. I seriously can't even wrap my mind around that...pregnant or not. I don't think I've had huckleberries, I'll have to look for them now. So nice to have friends that you don't feel like you have to entertain, just being with them is great. Nice work on the video camera, that's something we really regret not having sooner. Love you guys!

That's great that Dan and Sarah came to visit! And huckleberries - don't even know what they are!

Hi Amanda! Way to go on the running. Candee and I went to the Rec Center tonight. We walked for most of an hour and ran one lap. Now I know where I stand. At the BOTTOM. But, looking up! We're going again tomorrow with a bigger goal.
HUCKLEBERRIES!!! I got one pound for $10-something this weekend. Made a cheesecake with them on top for Bible Study group, we were together Sunday night to send Korri and Scott off to get their kids! The cheesecake was wonderful and the prayer time with K&S was so sweet. Wish you and Chad and fam could be here. You are truly missed!
Love ya!
