Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree!

We drove north this afternoon to go Christmas tree hunting with another family from church. It was such a beautiful day. Although snow would have made it seem more festive, we were thankful for bare ground to hunt on! The sun was shining and the air was crisp and still.

We found our tree in a little clearing that had gorgeous views of the Sawtooths. I think the pictures of the hunt will be beautiful! So- this is it. Chad had to cut some lower limbs off to make it fit, which really changed it's shape. Despite that, it smells fabulous and it only cost $5. Ella and Thomas were interested in hanging ornaments briefly, but putting things into Christmas gift bags and carrying them around the house was much more entertaining.

before-after-

Our church has a big children's Christmas party each year. It was such a fun day. The kids practiced their play, then were fed lunch, given a puppet show, got to do a craft and then had a birthday cake for Jesus. After all of that, everyone was invited to go ice skating together! We opted out of the ice-skating, and came home for a nap. Ella really enjoyed the day. Next Sunday is their Christmas play. The 3 year olds are sheep. Serious cuteness. Stay tuned for pictures!!

Amanda, your tree looks great! I am opting out of putting mine up but am doing other decorations and got a good start on it all today. I was in the mountains last week and so amazed at the wonderful smells. I wish I still lived in the mountains. Have a great week!

Sounds adorable! Tree looks cute. One time when I lived in Wenatchee, we went and got our own tree in the mountains with the Montieths. All the other years we had a fake one. It was a lot o fun.

Such memories this brought - the kids and Dwight used to go up every year while I decorated Kristen's b-day cake (today, by the way, is hers and A's birthdays). Nice tree - beautiful nativity set. The girls love to play with the ones that are breakable, though they do also play with the ones I bought specifically for that use!

I have tree envy, We are going to set up the fake tree tonight, it is my job to stop by Autozone and get the pine scented car freshener to hang on the back side of the tree. It gives the illusion but just isn't the same as a real tree.
