Thanksgiving Chronicles- The Final Chapter

We pulled it off!  We had another Thanksgiving in Peru.  It is no surprise that celebrating an American holiday in Peru, might have it's complications.  Our residency cards are in need of renewal, which means we had to get letter's notarized and mailed off with our cards this month.  Thursday was a good day to do it, because everyone was home.  We had comes to terms with the need to do it.  A quick trip down to the notary, and then we could have Thanksgiving, like "normal".  However, during breakfast, Pastor called and said he wanted to have a meeting.  An 8:30am meeting Thanksgiving morning, that would never happen back home!  He hadn't remembered that it was a special day, and we didn't say anything.  We had a quick meeting, but, it threw everyone off.  After the meeting, I decided to put Christmas music on and try to get back into the holiday spirit.  What song comes on?  "There's no Place like Home for the Holidays". Ha!
Pumpkin bread, cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs and coffee for breakfast!
After the meeting, I continued food prep and then team went down to the "cachina" to buy ugly sweaters for each other and get the residency cards taken care of.  Every Thursday there is a huge market that sells used clothing, among many other things.  Garren had the idea to do a sweater exchange as part of our Thanksgiving celebration.  We drew names, and bought ugly Christmas sweaters for each other (Chad bought for me!).
After everyone got back, things went pretty much like Thanksgiving back home.  Football, movies and food!
Football with the projector and sling box technology!  They had to cover the windows with blankets to be able to see the  image on the wall.

I'm glad you were able to pull it together - little things like that make being away from home not so bad. Yay for turkey!

I love the idea of the ugly sweaters - we could do that with any number of thrift stores around here.

You are a whiz, Amanda - what a lovely dinner you put together. It sounds like a wonderful day.

I'm so glad Kev and Chad get to watch the Broncos together these days.
