LABOR DAY

We planned a family hike and picnic at a mountain lake today. We woke up to this- our first frost. It was cold, but still a nice day, so I packed a lunch, we dressed in warm clothes and headed out with great anticipation. As we headed up the top of the mountains, it did not look promising. When we got to our trail head (about 45 minutes from home)- we found this: So we got back in the truck, and found a lake we could drive to. We walked around for about 5 minutes, then ate our sandwiches in the truck! The thermometer said it was 32 degrees. Our warm clothes were not that warm.

We should have picked a trail closer to home to hike. If the wind wasn't blowing, it would actually be a perfect day for a hike here. Oh well. It was a nice drive! I hope the snow stays up there for SEVERAL more months.

Thomas always wants a clip if Ella has one in her hair. Fortunately, it usually falls out after about 2 minutes(or gets plucked out by his father's fingers). Can you read Chad's sign language? Another birthday celebrated! We had a great dinner withTrish and Jade Friday night, while my parents played with the kids. The boys ate raw fish, the girls ate cooked meat. We had a beautiful day for the parade we went to on Saturday with my parents. They bought tickets to sit in the bleachers, so Ella and Thomas got a front row seat, on their laps! Before the parade, there was a old west shoot-out. Part of the act included a rubber chicken. Out of the entire weekend, that silly chicken seemed to make the biggest impression on Ella. Thomas cried throught most of the gun fight. They both sat through the entire parade! We came home and had a great steak dinner and huckleberry pie to celebrate Chad's brithday.

And what would Monday post be without a running report- six miles completed- almost half of what we will attempt to run in 5 weeks---I got new shoes and socks-- they make me run like Jimmy- OUT-

Happy Birthday, Chad!!

Wow, a cold Labor Day - we were going to head for the hills, but ended up having lunch over at V&L's, then took the girls swimming.

I am so impressed with your running. When is the race? It would be fun to come to Idaho that weekend...maybe I can convince Luke that we need to take a road trip:).
