Easter Sunday

As promised, a post about Easter Sunday.  The day started with a lot of preparation.  Instead of having our normal 8 o'clock morning meeting and lunch making time at the church, everyone was able to sleep in a little, and then report to their assigned jobs for the morning.  So, we had all the lunch stuff here at the house.  People came and made lunches, some stayed to eat.  It made it feel like a holiday having tables of food out and people coming and going to eat I really do LOVE the busy-ness of a full house.

After we got everything ready it was time to get ready for the service!  There is still a lot of work to be done, however the team has given the church here in Puno a great start with their new building.

The new church in Puno!  This was done in the time the team was here.  The foundation had been poured and prepped, but the majority of the work was done last week.

At first, the church was full of North Americans.  As Peruvians came, the Americans gave up their chairs.  By the end of  the service nearly all the Americans were standing outside!  We had about 160 people there.  It was a cold and windy night, and I was so proud of the short termers standing outside, freezing during the service!

After the service we served American finger foods that had been prepared that morning.  Celery and carrots with ranch, deviled eggs and banana bread.  It was a hit!  Several ladies came and said they were surprised at how good the carrots were.  I have heard that before from people here.  They always use carrots for soup or in cooked dishes, but never eat them raw.    

We served the team some cuy (guinea pig) which is a delicacy in Peru, for them all to try.  Our Peruvians were SO excited to eat cuy!

It was a full, fun day celebrating a new church and the Resurrection of our Savior.  I will never be able to express how grateful I am to be here.  God has been so good to me and I am in awe that He continues to pour blessing into my life.  There are no words to describe the depth of His love.  It will never fail or give up.  Thank you Jesus!
